Description

Strong clump of two years delivered in a 1-liter plastic pot. Small perennial plant with thick, glossy leaves of Japanese origin. The Koganei no Mai variety features ivory-white flowers with green hues, blooming from mid-October to late November, depending on the variety and the onset of cold weather. The flowers resemble the shape of the kanji 'dai,' from which its name [Daimonjisô] is derived. Abundant flowering in panicles on stems 15 to 25 centimeters tall. The inflorescence is composed of 3 small oval upper petals and 2 much longer lower petals. Height ranges from 10 to 25 cm depending on the variety.
Cultivation: Requires a partially shaded to shaded location in fresh, slightly acidic, humus-rich, and well-drained soil. Do not allow water to stagnate at the base of the plant or let dead leaves accumulate, as this could cause collar rot. It can be cultivated in a pot (in a cool room, similar to cyclamen wintering, frost-free) as a kusamono to accompany bonsai, but also in troughs, on low walls, and in open ground. This species withstands temperatures from -15°C to -18°C in well-drained soil. We have been successfully cultivating it for over 10 years at our nursery in Relevant. Saxifrages lose their leaves in winter, which regrow in the spring
