Advice - Placement
You have to take into account the species you’re growing and what it needs to grow. Avoid placing bonsai directly on the ground in locations that tend to vibrate such as terraces and balconies and low walls. Choose slightly shaded locations that are not windy.
The best location is a cold greenhouse (between 0 and 8 or 10°C). Otherwise an unheated veranda will do. You can also bury the pots in a trench in the garden. Of course, you have to take into account how cold-resistant the species is.
Using windbreak netting is advised because the wind will really dry out the foliage and soil, and a very strong wind could blow your bonsai off and break it. You can also attach the pot to its base with a thin cord.
